Notably, not everywhere has a convenient seaport. Therefore, there have been many fierce battles to compete for such strategic positions, such as: Hong Kong, Singapore, Suez port, Panama canal, Constantinople, Gibraltar, Aden, Cape Town…

In Vietnam, coastal cities with large ports are also always economic centers, attracting both domestic and foreign investment sources, promoting trade, and bringing huge profits to the country.

Advantages of Vietnam

History is repeating itself with the spaceport. Sites suitable for spaceports require a number of characteristics that are not available everywhere.

According to Grigory Trofimchuk, a Russian expert in the field of foreign policy, defense and security, first of all, the spaceport should be located near the equator. The Earth rotates from West to East. As a result, all rockets that enter interplanetary space fly in an East direction to take advantage of Earth’s rotation for additional speed. In other words, the farther the spaceport is from the equator, the smaller the growth rate will be. If launching a spacecraft from the Earth’s pole, the extra can be considered “to zero”.

Thus, geographically, southern Vietnam has met this when it is quite close to the equator. In this regard, Vietnam is more favorable than China because it is closer to the equator.

Besides, the spaceport needs good weather conditions. For space engineering, good conditions are cloudless skies and very light winds. The drop zone of the rocket boosters is also important, so the spaceports are built on the east coast of the great seas, or in the desert areas.

The expert explained that the height of the spaceport also benefits in launches, because the higher it is, the stronger the rocket engine works. That’s why the world’s best spaceport could be built in the alpine desert of Tibet, which is 5,000 meters above sea level to launch rockets. However, it is very difficult to get the missile there and very difficult to operate. Such a port is technically convenient, but extremely inconvenient for humans.

Thus, the construction option in the sea proved to be the most reasonable and Vietnam once again had this special advantage due to its long coastline with relatively stable weather.

The “gold mine” of the future

Singapore, Hong Kong, Saint-Petersburg, New York 500 years ago used to be desolate places, swamps, “paradise of pirates”… But the appearance of seaports has made these areas molt.

The space race has begun with potential commercial and resource benefits in space, including new sources of profit, new opportunities, new hope, new power, and world influence. new world. New space alliances, mega-corporations, political and international unions in the space industry are being formed. As a country in a key position, Vietnam holds a huge opportunity for this industry.

Looking at Vietnam’s “neighbors”, China has built a space port on Hainan Island. The President of Indonesia also said: “Yes, I need a space port”. And he called US billionaire Elon Musk: “Elon, come to Indonesia and build us a spaceport, somewhere in the New Guinea area!”.

If it is possible to own a space port, Vietnam holds a great opportunity to become one of the leading countries in the industry. Russian experts say that although Russia is one of the three space powers, all of its space ports are located in the north, too far from the equator.

Of all the Indochinese countries, Vietnam is the one that is closest to and understands Russia, the most favorable for cooperation between the two sides. With Vietnam’s geographical advantages and Russia’s space experience, building a spaceport in Vietnam is entirely possible.

From these opinions, it can be concluded that, Vietnam, will not be outside the main trend in the field of cooperation in conquering space.
