Although the shipping route is long and expensive, China still manages to collect coal
The global energy crisis is reshaping the trade routes of coal, a fuel many see as in decline.

Recently, Zhejiang province in eastern China received its first shipment of Kazakh coal by sea, as well as another rare shipment from Xinjiang.

According to  Bloomberg’s data, there are very few shipments that have to take a detour like the coal batch mentioned above. A notice from China’s state-owned energy company Zhejiang Energy Group said the shipment had to be transported by road from Kazakhstan to the Russian port of Zhelezny Rog.

After that, the goods were loaded onto the Caro ship at the end of August and sailed for 30 days at sea, passing a distance of more than 8,500 nautical miles (equivalent to more than 15,700 km). Finally, 136,000 tonnes of high-quality coal were unloaded in Zhejiang earlier this week.

“These unusual shipments show how strong demand is in some provinces in China, especially in the context of resources,” said Zeng Hao, an analyst at consulting firm Shanxi Jinzheng Energy. the bow is tight…”

In addition, according to the Chinese publication  Fengkuang Coal Logistics , European power plants are also interested in buying  than  from Indonesia. After two years, this is the first time that power generation facilities in the old continent “crave” such coal.

This series of unusual moves demonstrates how desperate countries are to buy enough coal before winter approaches and at a time when an energy crisis looms around the world.

In Asia – the world’s largest coal consumption market, coal prices also continuously hit records. Sharing with  Bloomberg, Mr. Isidro Consunji, President of the largest coal mining company in the Philippines Semirara Mining & Power predicted, coal prices are likely to continue to anchor high until the first half of 2022.
