Steel prices today increased to 4,511 yuan / ton on the Shanghai Exchange. China’s monthly steel output is likely to continue to rise in December 2021 and beyond as steel mills ramp up production.
Steel prices continue to increase today
Today’s steel price delivered in May 2022 on the Shanghai Exchange increased by 34 yuan to 4,511 yuan/ton at the time of the survey at 9:10 am (Vietnam time).

According to S&P Global Platts, China’s monthly steel production rebounded for the first time in 7 months in November 2021.

Good profit margins are another driver that could boost China’s steel output in December higher than in November, according to S&P Global Platts Analytics, China’s domestic hot-rolled coil and coil sales margin. National price is 106 USD/ton and 116 USD/ton on December 14.
Meanwhile, steel production cuts continued to take place in Tangshan and Handan cities of Hebei province in December. These cuts are expected to continue for the next two months, mainly to reduce smoke dust during the winter months and improve air quality for the Beijing Winter Olympics in February 2022.
