Of which, wood chip exports to Japan in the first half of 2023 reached 316.5 million USD, up 5.5% over the same period in 2022, accounting for nearly 39% of the total export value of wood and wood products to Japan. this market.

Information from businesses, currently, each year Japan uses about 8 million tons of pellets, of which 50 – 60% are wood pellets. It is expected that by 2030, Japan will need to consume over 20 million tons of pellets each year, of which the amount of wood pellets will account for about 13 – 15 million tons.

Experts say that when the whole world shifts to using green energy, biofuels, pellets, and wood chips will be a top choice. The world demand for pellets is forecast to increase by about 250% in the next decade, reaching 36 million tons from 14 million tons 6 years ago, from 2017. According to data from the General Department of Customs, the volume and value of Vietnam’s pellet export turnover have increased 28 and 34 times, respectively, over the past 10 years, since 2013.
