Ever Ace – the world’s largest container ship of the next generation of Ever Given with the same length but slightly greater width and depth
Ever Ace, the world’s largest container ship, docked at Felixstowe (Suffolk, UK) over the weekend. This giant ship belongs to a newer generation than Ever Given, which was stuck in the Suez Canal for 6 days in March. Ever Ace is Evergreen’s A-class vessel, capable of carrying 23,992 containers. Meanwhile, Ever Given is a G-class vessel that can only carry 20,124 containers. Another 11 giant ships were developed with Ever Ace, three of which were commissioned this year.
According to US Maritime Bureau records, the two ships are the same length, but the Ever Ace is wider and deeper. Ever Given is 58.8m wide, while Ever Ace is 61.5m wide. The depth of ever Given is 15.95m and Ever Ace is 16.48m.
The ship Eve Ace has a two-day break at the port of Suffolk and will arrive in Rotterdam on September 15, according to the BBC. During its schedule, it will have to pass through the Suez Canal, which accounts for 12% of global shipping.
This is also the route that the Ever Given ship went and got stuck, causing the global supply chain to be paralyzed for a week. Some 400 ships were also stuck after Ever Given failed to cross the Suez Canal, while others were forced to change their travel schedules, bypassing the southern coast of Africa.
It took a week of dredging and digging to get the massive vessel out of the Suez Canal, a costly endeavor that forced Egyptian authorities to hold the Ever Fiven on April 133.
Ever Given then arrived in Rotterdam on July 29 with more than 20,000 containers, taking 106 days from departure to the end of the journey, when the Japanese ship owner Shoei Kisen Kaisha reached an agreement to compensate usually with the Suez Canal Authority.
