China opens national pilot zone for shale oil exploration

The pilot shale oil production area covers an area of ​​up to 2,778 km2 in Tung Lieu basin and aims to achieve an output of more than 1 million tons of oil per year by 2025.

China on August 28 opened its first pilot site for shale oil exploration at Daqing in Heilongjiang province in the northeast of the country.

According to Daqing Field Cluster, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation, this pilot shale oil field covers an area of ​​2,778 square kilometers in the Song Lieu basin and aims to achieve production output. more than 1 million tons of oil/year by 2025.

Previously on August 25, Dai Khanh field cluster announced the discovery of a large shale oil field with an expected reserve of 1.27 billion tons.

Discovered in 1959, Daqing Field Cluster is considered to have made a special contribution to China’s oil and gas industry.
